The ottoman empire or the ottoman state is a many people state forgotten usually in the European historiography. Only twice the Turks emerge into our historical books as threat. And the actual threat is own to past nevertheless by centuries long penetrating of the ottomans to Europe a constituent characteristic of ours. Therefore the question arises which and who was this empire and which memories are for us today still experience in handling our own culture and the culture our fellow citizens from the former Ottoman empire and/or Turkey. This side shows only exemplarily cutouts from the enormous research area of the ottomanistic. On the one hand those shows document customer a pronounced and very highstanding administration structure of the ottoman state. At the same time we become acquainted with another chronology of the time. The introduction tries to briefly represent ottoman history (osmanli tarihi), which is to be supplemented by charts and the province administration. A selection of museums points the magnificent and high-quality ottoman art and by a multiplicity of  reference works (to the Ottoman empire/Islam/Turkey / Byzance / Legations ) to the topic is supplemented. The topic “Turksdanger” rounds off the connection between german and ottoman history.
